What this is
veratis.online publishes buyer's guides and explanatory articles about consumer security software: antivirus suites, password managers, backup, and the kinds of attack that these products are supposed to defend against. It is written for people who are not security specialists but who would like to understand what they are buying before they buy it.
Who publishes it
The publisher is Divine Intent s.r.o., a limited liability company registered in the Czech Republic under company number 04374321, with its registered office at Prokopka 176/2, Vysočany, 190 00 Praha 9, Czech Republic. Articles are written and edited by Linda Jones, who is also the director of publication and the person legally responsible for what appears here. Full details are in the legal notice.
How it is paid for — plainly
By affiliate commission, and by nothing else. When a reader follows one of our links to a retailer and buys something, the retailer pays us a share of the sale out of their margin. The reader pays the ordinary price. There is no other revenue: no display advertising, no sponsored articles, no paid placement, no payment to remove criticism.
That is a conflict of interest and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can do is work under published rules and let you check the output against them. Those rules are in the editorial policy, and the one that matters most is this: no advertiser sees an article before publication, and no advertiser can change what it says. The review on our front page devotes an entire section to what the advertised product does not include. That section is the test of whether the policy is real.
Three things we do differently
We collect nothing
No cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party requests of any kind. An ad-funded publisher has every incentive to measure its readers; we chose not to. It costs us our audience data, and we accept that.
We draw our own illustrations
Every diagram here is an original SVG made for the article it sits in. No product screenshots, no vendor imagery, no stock photography — which avoids trademark problems and means every claim a diagram makes is one we have to stand behind.
We correct in public
When we get something wrong we fix it, change the date, and leave a visible note saying what the article used to claim. There is a live example on the front page.
What we will not do
- Invent testimonials, reader stories or quotes.
- Publish a star rating or a score we did not derive from a stated method.
- Use countdown timers, fake stock counters or any other manufactured urgency.
- Claim that any product will keep you safe. Nothing does.
- Quote a statistic we cannot point you to a source for.
- Describe ourselves as a test laboratory, a consumer association or an official body. We are an advertising-funded publisher.
The full list, with the reasoning, is in the editorial policy.
Our limits
We think a short list of what we are not is more useful than a long list of what we are:
- We are not an independent testing laboratory. We do not run malware samples in a lab. Where this site quotes detection or performance figures, they come from AV-TEST or AV-Comparatives and are attributed to the specific test and date.
- We are not a substitute for vendor documentation. Plans and prices change constantly and vary by country. The vendor's own page prevails over ours, and we say so on every article.
- We are not a support desk. We cannot cancel your subscription, recover your key or clean your computer. See contact.
- We are small. One editor, a handful of articles, revised rather than churned. If you find something out of date, telling us is genuinely useful.
